Ritchie Marketplace will be hosting Spring break refreshers for Adrian College students today.
Nikki Partee, the service manager for Ritchie Marketplace, said that the event will take place from 5-7 p.m. during normal dinner times, and will include a station set up with mocktails.
“[The event is to] get students ready for Spring break,” Partee said.
Along with the nonalcoholic drinks, there will be a drawing where students can put in their names to win prizes, such as beach towels and beach balls.
Another event in Ritchie Marketplace planned for later in March is in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Wednesday, March 17, there will be an Irish themed dinner with entrees such as corned beef and sauerkraut.
Also, last Thursday night, there was a reception in recognition of Gloria Kaufman.
“It was very successful,” Partee said about the occasion. “Thank you to all the students who attended.”
Another aspect that is different at Richie Marketplace is the new cereal dispensers.
Partee said they have different dispensers now because they switched cereal companies. She also said the switch increased convenience for students.
“We’ll be offering a new variety of cereal along with the new dispensers,” Partee said.
Freshman Alexandra Schaufele said she liked the new dispensers.
“I like them, except with the shallow bowls, because then the cereal shoots out at me,” Schaufele said. “But other than that I love them.”
She also said that the new cereal was a good idea because it gives students more variety.
“They should continue to have Reese’s Puffs,” Scaufele said. “They’re my favorite.”
Also, some students have noticed a shortage of small soup and cereal bowls in Ritchie Marketplace.
Freshman Shannon Kynion was one student who noticed the shortage.
“It makes me upset,” Kynion said about the lack of small bowls. “I like soup and I’m afraid of spilling it all over myself with the large bowls.”
Partee said that possible reasons for the shortage are because the bowls have been broken or taken from Richie Marketplace.
She said they are currently looking at ordering more small bowls.
She would also encourage students, if no small bowls are present, to ask an employee if they have any more small bowls in the back.
“Sometimes we get so busy we don’t even notice we’re out of bowls,” Partee said.
Partee would also like to remind students that Richie Marketplace will be closing after lunch at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 5 for Spring break but will open again Sunday night on March 14 at 5:30 p.m. for a full dinner.
